For the past year or so I was seriously searching for a 52" 1080p LCD HDTV to replace the 42" Westinghouse LCD 1080p HD monitor I had been using with a satellite receiver. I was very pleased with the perfomance of the Westinghouse but wanted something bigger. I was aware of the problems with some 60 Hz machines so was narrowing my choice to 120 Hz. I was focussing in on the Sharp, Samsung and Sony 52 inchers when the Sharp Aquos LC65D93U 65" LCD HDTV became available at a reasonable price. Amazon's price beat all by a long shot and I didn't hesitate. 65/52 = 1.25 and squared (for the area) is 1.56! 56 % more area for 1000 to 1500 more dollars! $3999 with white glove shipping was a real seller. The TV arrived in a week or so, two guys carried it in, unboxed it, set it where I wanted it, hooked it up making sure it worked and left, all in 15 or so minutes. Awesome!

I have since (about a month or so) been marveling at the incredible HD picture. It really spoils you. I find myself seeking out HD programming because I don't care to watch SD which is not very good on a screen this large (especially when you are constantly comparing it to HD!). Of course performance with DVD's with an HD DVD player is also very good. I can recommend this machine at Amazon's price to anyone interested in a new TV experience.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Good LCD TV, but not the best picture
Two days into receiving, and playing, with this TV, this is my opinion.

There are few LCD 65-inch HDTVs around, so there is not much competition against this model. So, after seeing the competition and this TV on Best Buy, I believe this one has the best picture, for a LCD 65 inch with 120 Hz refresh rate.

Now, the picture quality is DEFINITELY not better than the Samsungs LCDs with 120Hz. The problem is that Samsung has not produced a 65-inch TV, yet.

Therefore, if you need/want a 65 inches TV right now, this is a good choice. It should not cost more than four thousand bucks, though. If you can wait, I would recommend waiting for the day Samsung builts 65-inch LCDs. They should be spectacular!!!

Enjoy

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - best pick
I've owned this tv for over a month now and love it. Picture is excellent. I have it paired to an Onkyo tx-sr875 receiver which upconverts all signals to 1080p. Without it 480 programs were a little grainy due to size of tv but now taken care of.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Fantastic High-Definition LCD
We've just received the unit (safely intact) with no dead or stuck pixels. The TV immediately discovered my satellite and my PS3 (after using the first HDMI input). There is an "auto" HDMI port (Input 7) that didn't like the PS3, but I haven't read the manual to see what the auto label means. We tried both Hellboy and PotC: Dead Man's Chest and they look absolutely stunning.

The TV is immense! I'd suggest that you sit no closer than 8 feet or you will notice the pixels. The remote is easy to use and back-lit. The only negative that isn't really mentioned anywhere is that the TV uses HDMI 1.2a instead of the current 1.3x. However, nothing is available that takes advantage of the new HDMI standard and it will probably be many years before it will be widely used.

I've also read that it's not quite as "fast" even with its 120Hz/4 ms rating. Not being a serious audio/video person, I haven't noticed any difference between my old 42" Plasma and this LCD in terms of display speed, so I haven't seen any indication of this. I've also played a few PS3 games and didn't notice any refresh issues. By the way, if you think movies look incredible on this LCD, you really need to see a computer/console game. Amazing!

Overall, this is really an excellent deal and should not be missed. I was initially worried about purchasing such a large item over the Internet, but Amazon has always delivered without problems. If you were thinking about a large DLP to get that "movie experience", I'd really consider this LCD instead as it is brighter, clearer, easy to move, and takes up less room. So, buy it already!

This TV has an unbelievable picture and is a steal at this price under $5000. This is a 2007 model and the 2008 version goes for $8000 as did this model last year
