Video Game System
As everyone knows, this was a hard system to get. We attempted to purchase this same system from an online aution and ended up having to get a refund. We decided to go with a dependable source. 2 for 1: plays blu-ray DVDs and games
i bought this for my husband's bday. it's obviously for playing games, but it's a great deal because it's the top of the line player for blu-ray dvds. so if you're going to invest the money into buying a blu-ray player, you might as well buy this. it costs about the same but you can play games on it too. would recommend buying a remote though, you can use the controller, but it's a bit cumbersome. buy the remote and you're set.

AWSOME
The PS3 is awsome. No other word describes it. The browser for the internet lacks the ability to play FLASH video online unless it is youtube.com which uses an older flash format. The game play is great and it also plays blue-ray DVD, yet costs less than a blue-ray player. You just can't get a better deal. Came quickly from Amazon also.....to sum it up....WOW!

Dont buy the PS3 40gb if you want to play PS2 games
I got a PS3 off of Ebay. Bad idea. While it works great and it is what is advertised, I didn't know that it can't play PS2 games. I would never expect to buy something from $ony that wasn't compatible with other $ony products.
Ah well, live and learn. Buy a PS3 80gb or 60gb (check on Sony.com for the latest details on PS2 compatability) if you want to play PS2 games.

Gaming Plus Bluray DVD Equals A Great Value
I purchased the Playstation 3 primarily as a replacement for my HD-DVD player. I already owned an Xbox 360, but there was no question that the PS3 was a great deal when you look at buying a Bluray player. It's like buying a DVD player and getting a gaming system for free! So, being a gamer I also bought a few used games to try out as well. I have been very happy with the system, and I do like some of the features Sony has built in such as the wireless connectivity right out of the box. I went ahead and updated the system to the newest firmware as soon as it was hooked up. That is a HUGE benefit for any device, but especially a Bluray Player since they will continue to add features, etc... I was never a "fanboy" of the 360, but I had owned an original Xbox (no issues for me!) and then bought an Xbox 360 (RROD on the first one - replaced free). I have noticed now that I am buying new games on the PS3 platform instead of the 360. I am now thinking that since most games come out on both systems, I can get rid of my 360 and save some space and make few hundred dollars as well. So, I have found the Playstation3 makes me happy as both a movie buff and a gamer, and I can't ask for much more than, so if you are looking for a bluray player, the PS3 is a great buy, and if you are looking for a gaming system, the PS3 is a great buy. I think that about sums it up :-)
