Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - I love this receiver
Thanks to the other reviewers, I knew to forget about HDMI on this unit. It does have 2 optical jacks that work fine for my DVR and PS3. It has plenty of power for my small Klipsch satellite speakers. Fidelity is great. DSP options are good. Dolby Digital and DTS work like a champ. The remote is good with features to operate my TV and DVR. My only beef there is the lack of page up/page down so I do use my DVR remote when watching TV, but it's nice to be able to pause, FF, etc just by picking up the Onkyo remote. I really don't see the reason to spend more. Got mine for around $200. Quick Amazon shipping as always. I really love my Onkyo.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - ok but prefer yammy
it is ok for the money but my 10 year old yammy is a more soild complete and bass pushing unit. I guess if I had to do it all over again I would have stayed with the yammy. I also do not like the red led light that stays on standy which is actually off. Also I prefer that it had a switched plug.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Beware before buying Audio equipment from Amazon!!!
Reconsider buying a audio product from Amazon!!!! Amazon will take returns for 30 days, if something goes wrong after 30 days, you must deal with the Manufacturer. The Onkyo TX-SR505 that I bought broke down after six weeks, I only used it five or six times. I contacted Onkyo, the only way to repair the unit is to send it to a service center. In order to send a receiver to the service center, the cost is $75! I recommend buying from your local Best Buy or Circuit City or other retailer. I would also recommend spending a few more dollars and get a better receiver. I love Amazon, but not for Audio equipment!!!!!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great bargain
This is a very good receiver for the money, has top notch amplifiers with plenty of power, and pleasing, useful, sound fields. The HCMI pass though is somewhat of a gimmick, so don't buy it for that reason, also I was unable to get the Audyssey speaker set up to work, as you seem to have to have a 7.1 speakers configuration hooked up to make it work properly, I only have a 5 speaker set up, and I had to set up my speakers manually using a sound meter. I am happy with the product though, sound quality on TV, Radio and CD's are all excellent and smooth. The tuner picks up all the stations I like to listen to. It took about 24 hours of burn in time for the amps to start sounding smooth though, I got kinda worried at first, but they sound smooth and detailed now, as good, if not better than my previous Denon Receiver. Which to me seems to be the only other choice in a receiver like this. If my HD requirements become more robust or new technology becomes attractive to me, I may have to opt for a more sophisticated receiver in the future, but for right now its fine, and I am very pleased with the looks, technology and quality of this machine. ( I found out later by writing an e-mail to Onkyo, that the surround speakers have to be plugged into the surround section not the back jacks in order for the Audyssey speaker set up to work properly when only using 5 speakers.)

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!!!
Best on the market for the money. Easy to adapt to your current products, i.e. TV, DVD Player, etc. I would definitely recommend this receiver to anyone who wants bang for their buck.

Buy it!!!

Version 1.5.2 of Chiba Core, an open source, XForms library for Java. This release "adds the new Xforms 1.1 schema which is now configurable. Therefore the nil value is now valid for a bunch of Schema types like data, double and the like. Localisation has been improved and now falls back to US locale as default if incoming value cannot be parsed. A new appender has been added to logging."
