Editorial Review:

Product DescriptionThe NHJ VTV-101 TV wristwatch is a gadget-guru's fantasy toy, a must have for sports fans, and a conversation-starter for any occasion. Never miss an important news bulletin, TV show, or sporting moment again and enjoy them anywhere! Not only is it a color television, but it's also a wristwatch! This Wearable Portable TV Wristwatch features 1.5-inch TFT LCD color monitor with 280 x 220 pixels, manual and auto tuning, and can receive 2-13 VHF channels and 14-69 UHF channels. The watch also has a second, smaller LCD for displaying time, month, date and year. Just put on the earphone antenna, tune it to your favorite channel, and enjoy the show! A genius invention for the sports nut, this mini TV keeps the action on hand and the wearer free to wander. Equipped with a 1-1/2' TFT liquid crystal display, the digital wristwatch TV produces a crisp, clean, 280 x 220-resolution color picture. A specially designed Sony micro tuner and headphone antenna pull in both UHF and VHF channels (reception performance dependent on local UHF/VHF signal strength). Volume and channel buttons discreetly placed on the side of the watch deliver easy control. An LCD bar at the top of the face shows the time, channel and volume level. The watch comes with a built-in rechargeable lithium-polymer battery and docking station that charges the battery (1-1/2 hour charging time) for 1 hour of viewing. Or plug the unit into an AC outlet for direct powering and unlimited viewing time.

Features:
  • Wristwatch time-piece and wearable portable color TV in one device
  • 1.5" TFT LCD color monitor screen (280 x 220 pixel resolution)
  • Receives all UHF and VHF channels (reception dependent on local UHF/VHF signal strength)
  • Standard digital watch functions displaying time, month, date and year
  • Listen to the TV audio through earphones that double as the TV antenna

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - great picture
I got this tv watch a few months ago off of overstock for $60 i was just expecting a little gadget that wouldnt do much. I have to admit i was wrong this tv watch gets a great signal i get all the channels its looks and sounds just as good as my sattelite tv. Even when i go 20 miles outside of dallas i still get a crip picture you can see everything that you would on most tvs. I also have too add that this watch is very durable i have dropped it a few times and accidentally kicked and it still works fine. There were two things i did not like about it one is that the its a bit bulky and the other is that occasionally falls out of its wrist clip. Other than that i have no complaints i would consider it a great purchase and it definately worth the $99 on amazon as opposed to the original price of $240.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - To cute to pass up!
It is a cute little gadget, not always a super picture. BUT when it is tuned in, it is awesome for being so small.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - you'll be bumping into walls.
this is seriously one of the coolest gadgets ever! the image is really crisp, I live in LA and I could get almost all the local channels (depending on the location I'm in) Some channels are look better than others. The earphones work as an antenna which means I need to take care of them. There is no car charger which sucks for a portable device not to have. And the tv lasts only for an hour and a half, and with commercials it won't last through a movie.
Warning: You'll get addicted with it.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Absolutely cool, but reception so-so
This TV wrist watch is more like a wrist TV with a rudimentary time/date piece at the top. The TFT active matrix color (that's right, color!) screen measures about 1.5" diagonal. There's no speaker on the "watch"; instead, you listen in via the included special earphones. The earphones are special because the cord also acts as the TV antenna, so in order to watch TV on this thing, you must use the included earphones.

I got mine from a website called shentech dot com. (I'm *not* affiliated with them in any way.) Just sixty nine bucks only! You should know that NHJ went bankrupt last year, that's why the TV watch is on clearance now. What a pity. It's so cool...

Yeah, it's really cool to be able to watch TV on a watch. The TV runs off a built-in LiIon rechargable battery which can last over an hour, probably close to two hours. Recharging the battery takes around 90 minutes when connected to the AC. You can also recharge the battery using four AA batteries; or you can power the TV using AC or four AA alkaline batteries.

The TV watch really comes in two pieces: the TV unit, and an ugly plastic base with wrist strap attached. But NHJ also includes a neckstrap, very thoughtful of them, as watching TV on your wrist can get tiring.

The problem is, reception is just not that good. No, you can't hook up cable or a DVD to this. You just have to live with over-the-air (OTA) broadcast signals. The earphone-antenna is rather weak in picking up the signals. It helps if you are situated close to the TV broadcast towers or live on high floors. The reception is also very direction-dependent, and sometimes if you hold the earphone cord in your hand it may help. Overall, the reception on the TV is quite disappointing, but works if you are willing to experiment with different positions.

The TV tuner can tune in to channels 1 to 64, but due to the reception limitation, you proably will just get a few channels to look acceptable. For me, the Jerry Springer channel appears the best, so I can watch 2 hours of Jerry Springer on my wrist every day. Not bad.

Anyway, this is absolutely the coolest gadget in the world, and the price is really great. Just don't expect warranty repairs if yours breaks.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - The Best and...ONLY TV Watch?
I'm up and down with this thing, but it's still the best one out there. It charges via a docking station that plugs into an outlet. That's a 90-minute charge for one hour of viewing. That mini docking station can also be battery-fed and connected to the watch to make for a much longer viewing experience.

It fits just like a normal watch and takes up just as much space. The headphones double as the UHF/VHF antennae, so if you hate those two little buttons that keep falling out of your ears as much as I do, you're kind of out of luck in trying to use your ultra-cool stereo headsets. Until I figure out what to do next, I just fit the buttons inside the headset cups and it works fine.

The reception and the headpieces keep the elusive fifth star from making it's appearance here. If you think you're going to watch your favorite shows in a basement or on the train, forget it. Otherwise all local channels show up sweetly and crisply with only the most minor intermittent fluctuations.

Project managers are ultimately responsible for making sure projects are completed on time, on budget, and with the features and functionality specified by the project's stakeholders. So why aren't they reviewed with those metrics in mind? One PMP has a better idea.

The UK's top share index has its biggest one-day points fall ever as Chancellor Alistair Darling tries to reassure financial markets.

Ted Shelton: "Frankly I felt that BlogOn was a waste of time and money."

I think the BlogOn conference was overproduced. In the name of professionalism the organizing firm turned off potential speakers, oversubscribed sponsors, etc.

I would have liked a debatable topic (aside from *blogging = journalism*. Two people slugging it out. Or a devil's advocate taking challenges from the floor.

I would have liked more hard numbers. Facts. Charts. Diagrams. We have the analytic tools to BS-check them; harder on vague opinions and single-points-of-observation.

I found it disturbing how much money was being commanded (from both attendees and sponsors) for a conference at a university. Maybe it was because it was at Berkeley? Maybe we should have taken over a community college or a Cal State or a DeVry. The facilities costs would have been cheaper at least. I heard an organizer apologize and say the next one would be at a hotel, like that would have been better.

Cost wasn't the whole problem. We're at a stage where early adopters are meeting folks who want to leap the chasm. Huge gaps in knowledge, experience, context, culture, vocabulary. It's the gap.

There are huge ideas to be explored, even in the world of applying blogs to media strategy and the enterprise. And most of the big ideas weren't even on the agenda at BlogOn. Probably because it was catering to those who want to commercialize, fund, and otherwise exploit (excuse me, "get in on") the emerging medium.

Let's fork these conferences so advanced topics on business and technology and culture fit the participants.

While this iPhone security hole isn't nearly as gaping as the last one we covered (which was fixed by Apple), it too exploits the emergency call feature in password-protected mode. In password-protected mode, there's an option to disable SMS preview, so if someone picks up your locked phone, they can't see incoming text messages. However, if you activate a locked phone's emergency call mode, and it receives a text message, it'll show you the full text in preview. And yes, this is with 2.1. Again, a sorta minor security oversight, but if you're super-secret about your texts (for whatever reasons), this is definitely a problem and needs to be fixed in the next update.
