Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Exactly what I expected
I was able to buy two of these for my niece and nephew who were about to embark on a 7 hour ride from Pensacola to Orlando. My aunt said they were an absolute life saver. :-) Of course, the kids are 2 and 7, so she bought straps and cases so that they could be fitted onto the backs of the two front seats. Uncles can't do everything. ;-)

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Worked Great For A Trip!
We bought this for our 4 year old twins on a long road trip. We read a review of it in Consumer Reports. It worked really well and we are quite happy with it. I will say that it was a little hard to hear at times, so it would be nice if the volume went a bit higher.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - LG DP781 8" Prtable DVD Player works well
Very happy with using this DVD player on 2 trips so far. Read reviews about poor sound quality, but it was fine for our needs. Used with and without headphones (once @ home for an overnight, also). The sound doesn't bother me because mostly an 8 yr old was using it... The picture quality was great and ease of operation pretty good (I, the old lady, had to use the manual; the 17 yr old figured it out easily). I would recommend this product based on limited use/experience I have with it.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Excellent product
We bought this DVD player mostly for our trip to Japan to keep occupied our two year old son through those 11 hours flights. It worked perfectly, picture is really nice and clear. Reads even very scratched DVDs. Very good battery life. Would buy again.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great player
Great picture. Sound is okay in low noise environment. However, even with headphones, it was difficult to hear with other noise around, i.e. other tv sounds, outdoor sounds, people talking, etc. Also noticed that it depends on the film, as I found that some movies were harder to hear than others.

Other minor drawback is that due to the high gloss around the control panel, it left a lot of fingerprint smudges; Easily wiped with a soft cloth.

For the price and excellent picture quality, I highly recommend.

Our first day at IFA 2008 is done, and without doubt, the overall winner so far—apart from Miss IFA and her jewels—has been the new Sony ZX1 9.9mm-thin LCD TV, which was absolutely beautiful, followed by the Philips Essence. However, there have been plenty of other things that you can check out here:

Hands-On
Sony ZX1 9.9mm-thin LCD TV
Sony Z4500 Motionflow 200Hz
Philips 8mm-thin 32-inch TV
Miss IFA and her jewels (no groping here)
Sony Walkman S Series
Philips barrage of new shiny gadgets (I just like to say barrage. Baaaarrraaaagggge).

I've heard it said by Dave Winer and many many others: if only Dean had reinvested half the money raised into the Internet, then ...

OK, so you're the Dean Campaign Chief Information Officer in August 2003. The money starts to roll in. $20 million over six months, $2-4 million per month.

What would you spend the money on?

  1. What does your monthly budget look like?
  2. What is your application and infrastructure portfolio?
  3. How much will you allocate to maintenance?
  4. You're building from scratch, so what problems do you hope to avoid through wise architecture?
  5. What are your big milestones?
  6. Who are your key vendors?

How do you spend in consonance with the campaign strategy?

  1. How will you use the Internet to bring offline voters into the campaign at the same numbers as radio or television broadcasts?
  2. What is your online strategy for responding to attack ads and opposition pundits in radio, television and print?
  3. Online community takes time to build and is very hard to organize geographically. What will you do to match the state-by-state primary schedule?
  4. What can you do with online services to serve the campaign in caucus states?
  5. You are preparing for Bush to launch in Spring 2004. What are your countermeasures to reach out to moderate Republicans online while the GOP uses its advanced voter email systems to barrage 200 million validated email addresses?
  6. How will you lower the cost-per-vote vs. the GOP?
