Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - AudioSource Pre One/A Stereo Preamplifier
Works as expected. Had no response from the dealer for extended specifications after inquiring several times. Wanted to know the power consumption and if the volume control was a true audio semi-log taper. The unit pulls 5.4 watts and does have a good audio taper, but had to buy the box to find that out. Many manufactures use a linear control which is wrong! The balance control is too close to the volume control. I've pulled the balance knob which leaves a gapping hole, but no longer tweak balance when intending volume. Balance should have been one of the smaller knobs like Bass and Treble and further from the volume control. Input select is lost with power down. The reason for buying the unit is to go green. Adding a 20 watt class-d power amp to the stack has reduced the idle power from the previous Panasonic VSX-9300 from 67 watts to 12 watts. Panasonic has been retired.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Just what I was looking for
I didn't expect much from this unit based on the price, but I was pleasantly
surprised and extremely happy with this purchase. I'm using it with a Adom Power Amp and AR3A speakers and it sounds great. I just wish it came with a remote but still it's a great bargain and is just what I needed. Don't let the low cost fool you, it's a quality unit (not "high end" gear but fills the need).

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - One of the last.
The stereo preamp, once a standard item in any serious hi-fi setup, has become difficult to find of late. This is the only one I know of that's still in production and that's intended for home use. It already seems a little dated, with its dedicated input for lazerdiscs (remember those?). But. it's a good, basic unit, although you'll need a separate phono cartridge amp for your vinyl collection. Also, the stated power rating of the switched outlet is too low to handle a large power amp.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Just what the doctor ordered
A very economical way to boot your power amps by increasing a feeble output from your surround/back amp or revive your surrounds/back speakers from being drowned by your front/center speakers. It sure beats purchasing another home theater amp, as it makes the best of what you have. This pre amp also works well to boost output from cable boxes especially if you are transmitting whole house music from the cable box to an FM transmitter. Quite a unit for the price...and try to find a pre amp that fits these needs ANYWHERE else.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Does what it says
If you are looking for a no-frills pre-amplifier that will deliver what it promises, this is it.

No remote control, no digital read out, nothing fancy ... but it works and delivers good value for the money!

Virgin America formally launches: Last week, Virgin America offered free Wi-Fi on its single Internet-equipped aircraft, My Other Ride's a Spaceship. Today, the service goes commercial ($10 for flights 3 hours or shorter; $13 for longer flights), and the rollout to other planes begins. Virgin has a special URL--http://wifitracker.virginamerica.com/--that takes you to a tracking page showing which flights in progress have Wi-Fi, but they don't yet tell you how to determine whether a given flight you'll be on will offer the service. With 24 planes and a plan to add service one per week, that shouldn't be a problem for long.

Heathrow Airport Coach Link adds Internet service: Icomera, a leading transportation Wi-Fi firm, has added free Wi-Fi to FirstGroup's RailAir coach service that connects Heathrow Airport with Reading in England. RailAir runs every 20 minutes for a 50-minute route. FirstGroup handles 3 million passengers a day across all its routes, which makes it a plum market for future expansion.

Awareness Technologies adds Wi-Fi positioning for laptop recovery: Awareness is the latest firm to partner with Skyhook Wireless to use Wi-Fi positioning to its products, in this case Laptop Cop, software designed to aid in recovery. The software starts at $50 for a 1-year license, with discounts for quantity.

Watching video through virtual-reality goggles of a mannequin's body while you look down at your own can trick your brain into believing the mannequin's body is yours. Swedish neuroscientists find that threatening the mannequin's body with a knife caused a physiological response in the person watching the video, indicating they have taken psychological ownership of the other body.

The White House censored her subversive Christmas tree ornament -- only to spread its anti-Bush cheer.

via Salon

This year has seen several young companies--including Orbius--offering to harness the power of social networking for business.

It wasn't a Merry Christmas A few years ago while visiting friends in Germany, we made a trek to Verdun, France. As an American, I had no clue as to what was there other than it was an old city dating to the (Pre)- Roman era.
I was shocked and humbled to what I saw. The greatest battle (possibly in the history of modern warfare) was at the very place I was walking.
At the Douaumont Ossuaire, we video taped our tramping about. Below the bldg, there are windows that peer into...what to call it? A giant room filled to the top with bones and skulls. I taped for a few minutes and then felt an overwhelming sense of sadness. I was looking at 130,000+ forgotten warriors. I shut of the camera and destoyed the tape. This month, please take a moment to remember the fallen. My respect to those who died. As an American. Previosly.
