Best portable laptop u can ever have
Asus really did a good job with this product. I got this computer a month ago for college and it works perfectly fine for what I needed. After u get microsoft office working you have all u need for typing and make presentations.Mail and Internet works perfectly fine too. If you are looking for a computer for typing or traveling that works perfect, this is the one to get.
The only cons I found in this computer, and the reason why i rated it 4 stars instead of 5, is that the battery does't last 7 hours as asus advertise. It will give u 4 hours with wi-fi on. Also the shift key it's oddly placed but you'll get used to it after a while.
After all, I'am very satisfied with this laptop. It's the perfect product for people who is looking for a very portable computer.

cute and nimble
If you're tired using your thumbs on a Blackberry but would like the portability of a small computer, this is the machine for you. It's light, it fits easily everywhere, and it won't take too much space at your Starbucks table. It's powerful and fast, making it the perfect machine for those who need ubiquitous computing.

The only Eee PC
For god sake get this Eee PC and leave the Linux one's (Surf etc) at the store for disposal. With this one you have XP as the OS no Xandros Linux which sucks, and this one actually had HD space and 1gb of ram. Finally a good Eee PC!

Even Better
First, a big thanks to all those who posted helpful reviews, particularly those with tech insights and suggestions.
For me, the computer is a joy. Long battery life, good bootup time, etc. I would like to add that I have no flimsy feel on the keyboard (also called flex), it is solid. I prefer the Star programs over MS Works and they all respond well. Because it's XP it immediately integrated with my network. The surprise is how well a 10 inch screen gives enough space for my browsing and email. Overall, this is the way to go if you travel or work from different locations frequently.

This is a Great Little Machine
I'm very happy with my 1000h. I'd been looking for a new laptop, something a little smaller and more portable than my aging Compaq that weights in at about 9 lbs with the battery. After reading way too many reviews for netbooks, it came down to a choice between the Asus 1000h or the MSI Wind. I decided to go with the Asus 1000h with the 160GB hard drive, just because I've never had any problems with Asus motherboards.
First off, this is a slick looking machine. It doesn't really matter to me what my computer looks like, but this is an eye catching device - shiny and svelte. As others have mentioned, however, it is a fingerprint magnet. The 1024x600 screen is sharp and clear, and is very visible even from side angles.
Performance-wise, I'm reasonably impressed with this. With the 1.6 Ghz Atom, it is not super-powered beast, but it's run just about everything I've thrown at it so far. It comes with Windows XP, which runs very fast on it. It runs Office fine, decent Photoshop performance, great at web surfing and internet video. It's been great for every day computer tasks. This is the first computer I've ever bought where game-playing wasn't one of the top priorities. I have a decent desktop for that. That said, it is a more capable gaming machine than I would have thought, considering the integrated graphics. It plays older games quite well, including Diablo II, Jedi Knight II, Unreal Tournament 1, and it even runs Halo fairly well (with lower end settings).
Wireless performance is good, thought I haven't tried it out on a Wireless N router yet. Haven't used the webcam much yet but it seems pretty decent, though perhaps a little grainy. Plenty of USB ports, and it works great with a bluetooth mouse. The touchpad is a little sensitive, and the buttons are a bit stiff, but I've already gotten used to it. As others have said, the right shift position is a little awkward, but I mostly use the left so I haven't really noticed. Otherwise keyboard is great - very close to full size and easy to use, even with my gigantic hands.
The real selling point for me on this one was the portability, and 3.2 lbs with 5-7 hour battery life is about as good as it gets. It seems solidly built, but it's not ruggedized or anything. I replaced the neoprene sleeve that it came with with a bit thicker case, the Caselogic LNEO-10, which fits in my messenger bag no problem.
This is a great portable computer but I wouldn't use it as my only machine. Storage is good (160Gb), but not really enough if you have a lot of music or videos. And the lack of an optical drive is great for saving weight, but not really practical if it's your only computer.
In terms of price to performance ratio, this machine is flat out AMAZING! Perfect for students or anyone who needs a very lightwieght laptop and doesn't have tons of cash to spend.
