Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Happy with EEE PC
I bough the EEE PC 1000. It comes with Linux which I'm unfamiliar with but I'm learning. Struggled a bit to get the mouse sensitivity set. Had a little hick-up with font spacing changing while typing. Later found the answer on a forum that it happens if you press shift and space together. Overall I'm happy with the EEE PC. Has a great battery life and is small and light so easy to carry around. I wanted a portable netbook and that is what I got.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Asus Eee 1000
I like this mini PC , it is small and light, this is what iam looking for

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Breaking away from Windows
I just picked up the ASUS Eee PC 1000 3 weeks ago - this is my first non-Windows computer and I was impressed with the functionality, performance, and value provided by this device.

Its great having a ~3 pound laptop with a battery that lasts long enough that you don't need to lug around the power adapter.

Its great getting a computer that you DON'T need to spend a whole day cleaning out all kinds of junkware trial versions of stuff -- everything you need is pre-loaded and there's no junkware.

Its great getting a laptop that's always ready for use - boots in 20 seconds or less and runs entirely off solid state drives.

The Linux front-end is simple but functional. The keyboard is big enough to really type without fumbling, and the screen is big enough for most simple activities.

I haven't been expecting to attach all kinds of hardware or customize the thing - just use it out of the box for internet, skype, open office, etc.

The bottom line is that I believe its a very good 'netbook' - a very good value.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Asus Eee PC 1000
Day 2 into my Eee PC 1000...WOW this little PC rocks. I installed Ubuntu for eee and I'm so happy with it. http://www.ubuntu-eee.com/ It does everything I need it to do and more. It is a little slower with the solid state hard drive, but that's what I got it for. I wanted a computer that would be more mobile without the worry of crashing my hard drive. I'm very new to Linux as well and it has been a great experience. Easy to install, update, and install new features. Surfing the net is so easy and smooth. It fits anywhere too which is a plus.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Love It
I've had this laptop for a week. It works great. The laptop is very portable and easy to carry around. Good battery life.

I recommend upgrading to the 2gb of memory, otherwise the computer is a bit sluggish.

I have large hands and the keyboard is taking some getting used to. However within a week I am rapidly getting used to it.

I purchased this laptop to take on the road and it is working great for that purpose.

This year has seen several young companies--including Orbius--offering to harness the power of social networking for business.

The proposed acquisition of Macromedia by Adobe is not a done deal. Both companies are under the scrutiny of the SEC, and it must also be approved by stockholders. While Macromedia/Adobe gives this process three to nine months, some industry analysts feel that is being overly optimistic. But assuming that all is goes as planned, Macromedia will cease to exist. Everything will be in the Adobe name and with the Adobe interface.

Virgin America formally launches: Last week, Virgin America offered free Wi-Fi on its single Internet-equipped aircraft, My Other Ride's a Spaceship. Today, the service goes commercial ($10 for flights 3 hours or shorter; $13 for longer flights), and the rollout to other planes begins. Virgin has a special URL--http://wifitracker.virginamerica.com/--that takes you to a tracking page showing which flights in progress have Wi-Fi, but they don't yet tell you how to determine whether a given flight you'll be on will offer the service. With 24 planes and a plan to add service one per week, that shouldn't be a problem for long.

Heathrow Airport Coach Link adds Internet service: Icomera, a leading transportation Wi-Fi firm, has added free Wi-Fi to FirstGroup's RailAir coach service that connects Heathrow Airport with Reading in England. RailAir runs every 20 minutes for a 50-minute route. FirstGroup handles 3 million passengers a day across all its routes, which makes it a plum market for future expansion.

Awareness Technologies adds Wi-Fi positioning for laptop recovery: Awareness is the latest firm to partner with Skyhook Wireless to use Wi-Fi positioning to its products, in this case Laptop Cop, software designed to aid in recovery. The software starts at $50 for a 1-year license, with discounts for quantity.

Climate change is hampering the long-term recovery of rivers from the effects of acid rain, with wet weather offsetting improvements, according to a new study.
