Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - To Mac Or Not To Mac
Those of you who are pouting that this is an overprized Mac accessory aren't clearly not Mac people --- and for that reason, you probably don't own an Ipod, either (and another brand's comprable MP3 player).

You're either a Mac person or you're not --- Mac people tend to want good performance, good appearance... and they don't care what it costs.

From a technical standpoint, this thing works great. I also use it to plug in my USB mini-drives and it's flawless. If you want it and you care about the Mac-image, then don't 2nd guess and buy a knockoff or USB extension cord. There's no such thing as buyer's remorse for Mac addicts...

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - makes my life easier
This is great, my tower is on the floor so instead of bending down each time I need to charge or change songs I can just plug it in to the nice small dock sitting on my desk. I have had no problems whatsoever with it.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - it's a friggin' USB Extension Cable!!!
How can they even call it a dock connector? It's just a mere usb extension cable, nothing more. u know what? just go and buy urself a USB hub for like $20, and u'll get not only the supposed dock connector, but also, u'll get a few more ports. They need to reduce the price of this thing, no way does this merit $30. If they had at least added a line out and made it a two headed usb cable, then, it might be worth it.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Looks versus value
Like matching furniture? Suits? Socks? How about a USB extention just for your iPod Shuffle?

That's right, that is all this is: a USB extention cord. Admitedly, most of us need one. The USB ports are on the back of the machine, and reaching around to plug in the iPod is just too much of a pain.

The question is, why pay so much for just an extention cord? Looks. Style. That, and it is an Apple approved device for an Apple made iPod.

If you have the cash, fine. If not, no big deal. Just doesn't have that Apple look.

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - What's the point?
What's the point of getting a dock for thirty dollars when you can just get a USB extension cord for (at most) 10 bucks?

This year has seen several young companies--including Orbius--offering to harness the power of social networking for business.

The proposed acquisition of Macromedia by Adobe is not a done deal. Both companies are under the scrutiny of the SEC, and it must also be approved by stockholders. While Macromedia/Adobe gives this process three to nine months, some industry analysts feel that is being overly optimistic. But assuming that all is goes as planned, Macromedia will cease to exist. Everything will be in the Adobe name and with the Adobe interface.

Virgin America formally launches: Last week, Virgin America offered free Wi-Fi on its single Internet-equipped aircraft, My Other Ride's a Spaceship. Today, the service goes commercial ($10 for flights 3 hours or shorter; $13 for longer flights), and the rollout to other planes begins. Virgin has a special URL--http://wifitracker.virginamerica.com/--that takes you to a tracking page showing which flights in progress have Wi-Fi, but they don't yet tell you how to determine whether a given flight you'll be on will offer the service. With 24 planes and a plan to add service one per week, that shouldn't be a problem for long.

Heathrow Airport Coach Link adds Internet service: Icomera, a leading transportation Wi-Fi firm, has added free Wi-Fi to FirstGroup's RailAir coach service that connects Heathrow Airport with Reading in England. RailAir runs every 20 minutes for a 50-minute route. FirstGroup handles 3 million passengers a day across all its routes, which makes it a plum market for future expansion.

Awareness Technologies adds Wi-Fi positioning for laptop recovery: Awareness is the latest firm to partner with Skyhook Wireless to use Wi-Fi positioning to its products, in this case Laptop Cop, software designed to aid in recovery. The software starts at $50 for a 1-year license, with discounts for quantity.

Climate change is hampering the long-term recovery of rivers from the effects of acid rain, with wet weather offsetting improvements, according to a new study.
